Beer and fried thingies, yes please. After a long work week when your friends say, "Hey lets go drink!" Of course you don't turn them down. Well we didn't only go to drink but to have some pub food as well. The Cheeky Monk on Colfax was our location of choice. My friends Brendan and Kirsty and I chose this restaurant because we all love drinking but Kirsty has lived in the UK and Australia and I thought she might like some fish and chips, but she had salad, we had other fried things which in my opinion are better then fish and chips. My friend Daedre told me about the fried pickles here and so we started with those.

The lighting in this restaurant is very very dark so the pictures are a bit off....sorry, but the pickles were the best things we had. I have been thinking about these since I ate there and really want to go back and just eat these. Kirsty and I ordered steak salad served with frites on top. Now I love salad and I love fries so I did like the salad but I asked for my steak medium rare and got well done, but by this point I was two beers in so I didn't mind much. Brendan ordered the best and got Belgian Bangers and Mash, the sausage was a wonderful chicken apple sausage and I will be ordering that next time.

Ok now for the beer, and there is a lot of it. Word of warning, this is not a place to go if you want a $2 Budweiser, the beers are imported and expensive. I simply don't have the time to tell you about all there is to offer, but the list is large and everything was great. I will say that when we asked the waitress about the beers she seemed to know a little bit but it would have been nice if she knew more. I would guess if you sat at the bar the bartender would have a bit more advice and knowledge about what beers are served. There are pairing suggestions on the menu for beers that go with food and that is always helpful.

Overall this is a nice place to meet friends and have some good food and get a good beer. It is a bit pricey but when you are getting a nice beer and good food it is worth the extra price. I will go again, and even if I just go for the pickles and a beer I will be very happy.

A new place just opened in Old town Arvada, Manneken Frites. If you like fries and beer at inflated prices, this is the place for you. That might not be the fairest of statements, maybe it is the American in me, either way very over priced. I got a small fry no wait Frite and a bottle of water and it was $6. My sister and husband got one small fry and one medium fry a soft drink and a beer and it was $18. I went back up to get another sauce and it was an additional $1. So pretty much it is a place that is something fun to do once in awhile. They have a ton of sauces I had the Ghent sauce and the sauce Andalouse, the Ghent sauce tastes like aoili with shallots and garlic, and the Andalouse sauce is that mixed with something sweeter it kind of tasted like Thousand Island but less strong, it was very nice. My sister had Tzatziki sauce and her husband had Curry mayo, both of those were also very good. Overall the sauces here are amazing, the Frites are amazing but it is more of a novelty than some place that I would go to very often. All of the tourists to that area will love it, you can have something unique while you shop for antiques.

I will say one thing, Thai is just alright to me, I don't get excited about it, not like Mexican. I will also say that the absolute best curry that I have ever had in my life was at a Thai place in Portland OR, the Thai House in Westminster is not. Ok ok it was just fine, but I wouldn't write home about it. The Thai House is located at 80th and Sheridan. I did not pick this restaurant one of my friends did because they really like it. So maybe I am just a bad judge of Thai food, and my friend is a good judge of Thai food? I would also like to say that there is one Thai place that I love eating in Colorado and that is Chez Thuy in Boulder, but I do not get to Boulder often so occasionally I will go to Thai in Denver. Please note that when going here the food is really spicy. I ordered medium and I really like spicy things, and even I was sweating. If you do not like spicy things be sure to order mild or very mild. Also order the Thai iced tea because it is always good.

We started with some appetizers because we were very hungry, almost hangry if you want to push it.

Both appetizers were very good, but aren't all fried things delicious? Next were the curries, I had green curry which had a nice flavor and really cleared out my sinuses.

Both curries were very tasty, but not special, they just tasted like curry. Overall this place is good, it is in a strip mall location and the prices are reasonable. I would go again but only if asked by friends, I would not go there just to go there.

No, no, no this is not pornography. But by all of the food that we consumed you might think a bit grotesque and sad. Recently was joined by my two favorite foodies, Teresa and Jesse, to eat Polish food. Cracovia restaurant is a small restaurant in Westminster Colorado. We went on a Friday night, and the place appeared to be busy, not all the tables were full but for this small family restaurant it appeared to be a large crowd. We were pre-warned that if we took a booth close to the dance floor it would be loud, yes I said dance floor. There is a one man band, not only does he play trumpet, but he sings, and plays a keyboard. What this isn't your thing? Ok not ours either but felt like going to someones wedding and being entertained, hell people even danced. Be prepared as the service is very slow, but the food is very good. First off our waiter asked for a drink order, Teresa and I ordered Cokes and Jesse ordered a beer. When we got the cokes there was no ice, we were informed later that the ice machine was broken. Ok I love ice so I felt very sad, but it was going to be fine as I was in good company.

Teresa and Jesse ordered the platter for two and I order the platter for one. This is not cheap, but it will feed you 3 times trust me. We started with bread and a pate, was very nice and creamy. The second course was soup, we all got different ones. Mine was dill pickle and potatoes, let me tell you this was so freaking good, I love love love dill pickles and I wish I could make this at home because I would eat it everyday. Jesse got Beet soup which was great, creamy and sweet, Teresa got breakfast soup as I like to call it, had sausage, hard boiled eggs, and potatoes.

Then came the food, lots and lots of food. My plate came with perogies, kielbasa, cabbage roll, cucumber and beet salads. Teresa and Jesse's came with all of those plus a croquette of some kind of meat, mashed potatoes and short ribs. Need I say more

What could be better then eating outside???? Eating outside with a lot of food trucks surrounding you and a glass of sangria!!!!! Went to the Justice League of street food last night, in Denver. They have parties all summer and let me tell you the food is good. This event was at 29th and Huron in Denver and included a many fine food and fine people. The fun thing about this is that you get to see all sorts of different people and eat all kinds of food.

So many many choices........

The Biscuit Bus is where I started....................................

Ok I love biscuits but they are not really good in Colorado, more like rocks, no moisture is hard to work with. Some how the Bus knows what they are doing. I ordered the Ellsworth, biscuit, fried chicken, homemade mustard, homemade pickles, and a drizzle of honey..............I think I am in love. I could eat one of these biscuits every single day.

The biscuit was flaky and buttery, and the other items were the highest quality, explains the 7.50 price tag. I recommend getting in touch with these folks, follow them on Facebook at The Biscuit Bus and they will tell you where they are for the day. Next up Teresa had some fried mashed potato balls from the Stick it to me bus, also Jesse had some meat on a stick from there. Both items were really good.

I had to have some dessert from the Denver Cupcake truck, Lemon Cupcake anyone?

Teresa also got some Milk and Cookies to eat later.

I had to have a sangria to wash all of this awesome food down.......

Eating with a Pregger.........................

Ok if you love to eat like me and you have a friend whom is pregnant then you should eat lunch with that person, and order a lot of items on the menu with no shame. I recently went to lunch with my friend Daedre, small tiny thing with a baby bump. I will say even though Daedre is tiny she has always had a love of food and that is one of the things I most like about her, ohhhhh and she has crazy red hair which I love.

I have never eaten at Steuben's but have always wanted too. This place is so cute, a mix between a diner and a bistro. Almost all of the items come A la Carte which bothers me, but the prices are reasonable. Quick mention here, the glasses are tiny, if you order a coke which I did you will need it refilled at least twice.

I really liked this place. I was filled with your usual 'foodies' but it was also filled with families with small children and older people, I felt comfortable there. The menu had a nice brunch selection as well but we opted for lunch. Steuban's now has a food truck and can be found around town for their goodies as well. I will go back I really want to try dinner here, I hear the fried chicken is good. Daedre and I left feeling really full and with all that food the cost with tip was around $20 a person, not too bad. Ohhhhh and I forgot to mention all of the food rocked, everything was very well prepared, how could I forget the most important part, must be having a food coma re-living all of that food.

If there is one thing that I love just as much as Mexican food it is Greek food. I am sure if I ever get to go to Greece I will love the food just as much, but what I am talking about is gyros which I am pretty sure is not what they eat in Greece. I just love it and I think and I know that is probably not very good for you, but I really don't care because I love it. I kind of do what I want, you should just get to know that about me. So my favorite food companions Teresa and Jesse suggested Melita's Greek Cafe and market they eat there a lot but I have not and it was on my list of places to try so off we went. You walk in and it looks like a diner with some grocery items to one side, I think OK this looks pretty good, because everyone knows that the lower the ambiance is, you are probably going to have a good meal. They have a menu on the wall, the kind of menu you see at a bowling alley snack stand with the red and black press in letters and numbers......I am liking this already. I grabbed a paper menu to have a peek.

I love a good paper menu. I order some hummus and pita to start, I have to have an appetizer it is like a drug or something, I have found many a good food just by ordering an appetizer. The hummus was great, and the pita is grilled on a flat top which makes it slightly oily and toasted which is even better.

droollllllllllllllllllllllll sorry I had a moment of pita and hummus coma for a minute. Ok on to the main event. Teresa had falafel sandwich and french fries, which I of course tasted. The falafel was really well seasoned and I am pretty sure made in house and homemade with ingredients on hand not from a box.

Jesse ordered the gyros sandwich with a side salad. I like the fact that you can get fries or a salad with the combo because sometimes you do not want fries and you don't want to pay extra for a salad. I also had some salad with my gyros platter and I will say the salad here is very fresh and not boring, see picture below to figure out "not boring".

I don't really know if Jesse liked this but I think it was gone in about 2 minutes flat, and that is very strange for Jesse so I am going to say that he LOVED it and move on. The gyros platter was similar but comes with some baklava as a dessert. I really enjoyed my food and took half home to eat the next night for dinner, I just tossed it with some more salad greens and had two salads from one meal. This place really gives you a lot of meat so chances are you will be taking some home. I am definitely going here again, and by again I mean soon, and by soon I mean maybe this weekend. If you are not in the mood for greek they do offer cheese burgers and different types of sandwiches, I am sure they are all good. So what are you waiting for, an invitation? Go there now.

Bikers and Dogs

Ok now that I have gotten your attention, focus on hot-dogs and you are in for a real treat. Recently my sister and her husband wanted to get hot-dogs and they suggested Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs. Located at 2148 Larimer St, Denver, CO. Ok first off this started as a cart in Denver and now it is a restaurant location, and I am not surprised because it is really good. We started with some fried macaroni and cheese, that doesn't really need a description because: A. anything fried is delicious, and B. anything macaroni and cheese is great. The fried appetizer was great, and I could eat about 5 orders of this........

I ordered the Elk Jalapeno Cheddar Dog.....now this is not a hot-dog, but a tasty delight in your mouth. It is filled with cream cheese and topped with sauteed onions that are cooked in soda. Very, very, very good.....oh did I mention I got mine served with fried green tomatoes? This place is great, great atmosphere, good prices, and really unusual hot-dogs that are super tasty.

Now I usually do not venture down to Littleton for Breakfast, but a friend that I haven't seen in over 15 years invited me down so we could re-connect. She chose Toast, there are actually 2 locations in Colorado one in Littleton and one in Cherry Creek. The one in Littleton is really cute, with pictures of art shaped like toast on the wall. The menu is really large, and there is something for everyone. The coffee is also really great for a breakfast place, I'm not sure what kind they use but I loved it. My friend chose a dish called Sante Fe french toast, this thing is a monster, it has egg, chorizo, green chilis, cheese, pico de gallo, and avocado cheese

I had the Chicken fried steak and eggs. Both things were really great. I will eat here again. The service was great, the prices were good, and the portions are huge.

Last weekend my niece graduated from High School in Norman OK, and I of course used this as an excuse to cheat on Denver. Some of my family lives in Oklahoma and I am originally from there, but I have lived in Colorado for about 25 years, so I do jump at the chance to go see my family and eat good food. I got off the plane, my dad picked me up, first question was "Where should we eat?" My dad and I decided on Earl's Rib Palace we really just wanted a sandwich or something light, hahahahahhaha, that word light is kinda funny, this is what I got.

Smoked Turkey and Brisket Sandwich with Fried Okra

I didn't eat the bread and couldn't eat all the meat. The Turkey was totally radical awesome, and the okra was some of the best I have ever had. The brisket was so so. I will be dreaming about that meat for a long long time. Go there if you are ever in Oklahoma, it is right off the Highway on the way to Norman. The other place that I must mention is one that my family has been eating at for a long, long time, The Greek House located in Norman. It is simple, gyros plates with meat sliced off the spit, this always makes the best Gyros.

Really good and worth checking out. Word of advice this place is packed for lunch, we went for an early dinner and wasn't quite as bad but they get really busy and you should be prepared to wait. Lastly a place that I always want to go is Ted's Cafe Escondido it is really great mexican food. Now is Oklahoma when you sit down at the table you not only get chips and salsa but also get queso and pickled carrots and jalapenos, this is standard and it really should be everywhere!!!!! The food here is great and the service is outstanding, again a must try. I had Fajitas but the true winner of the night was a stuffed chili relleno (stuffed with shredded chicken) and served with mashed potatoes.

Root Down, Root Down....................

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for ages, and ages. It is not far from where I live in the Highlands area. Root Down is a really "hot" spot if you are fan of the I love foodspotting App then you see tons of pictures of this place. My friend Michelle was getting married so we decided on this place for brunch. They do not open until 10am for Brunch, and when I got there the line was in full effect.

First of all I hate restaurants with lines, I really hate waiting for food. Thankfully we had a reservation. I let some girl go ahead in line because I was still waiting on people, I said "go ahead I have a reservation and I am waiting on people." The girl quickly replied "We have a reservation too!!!!!!" She was a real snob, it made me want to leave, girl with attitude usually is where stuck up people eat. We decided to stick it out and it was an overall enjoyable experience. Our waiter came to the table when we sat down, they brought water and took our drink order. The service here is a little slow, and I get the overall feeling that the service is not that good, meaning that these people think they are part of the "hottest" thing around. Now that being said our waiter was funny, kinda stuck up, but funny and did what we asked and that is really all I can hope for. Now as for the food, it is awesome, so awesome that I can see why there is a line. We started with a brunch appetizer at the waiters suggestion a tray of homemade pastries.

This was some biscuits and scones. It came with a homemade marmalade that I could have swimmed in. Very very good, also chased it with a blood orange mimosa and latte.

We all ordered something different but the popular choice was the crab and avocado eggs Benedict.

I had a bite of this and it is great, the avocado is in the crab cake with eggs and sauce nestled on top, served with potatoes and mixed greens. I had a breakfast burrito with chorizo. The burrito was amazing, how can you go wrong with any kind of meat product that was made fresh?

The experience here was overall good and I would really love to go back. I am hoping that this place doesn't get too snobby as I think the overall concept of this place is to just have a great neighborhood place to eat and hang out. Next time I am going for dinner, the menu looks very good.

So occasionally I eat in a different city, my friend Brendan moved back from Australia and on 05/05/2011 or Cinco De Mayo we headed off to a Mexican restaurant in Frisco Colorado.

This is a family restaurant that is located in a strip mall right next to Safeway. When we walked in the first thing the hostess said was, "Do you have a reservation?" and we were very surprised since this is the slow season in the mountains right now, we said no and the hostess directed us to sit in the bar. We were given chips and salsa and a pitcher of water which was nice. Our waiter came over quickly, even though they were busy, and took our drink order, I asked for a margarita no salt, I got a margarita with salt. When I told the waiter I asked for no salt he wiped the lime around the rim and said, "ok no salt now!" This seemed very rude, and to be honest the staff was kind of rude, so I will likely not be going back to this restaurant.

Brendan and I both ordered the Burrito Colorado, it has large pieces of steak in a chili sauce stuffed with refried beans and covered in cheese and onions. Overall pretty good burrito but I honesty would have liked one from Qdoba better and that is just a 5 minute drive from this place. I was not terribly impressed with this place, but it also might have just been a busy night for them. Will I try it again? Maybe, if someone wants to pay for my dinner.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm milkshakes. Sorry drifted off there. Yesterday Teresa, Jesse, and Me decided we need hamburgers. Ok I decided that we needed hamburgers, and fries, and shakes. I heard of a place called Park Burger. I thought that is was far south Denver, but to my surprise my wonderful sister found that they had a new location in the Highlands. So I gathered the troops and off we went. First off never go anywhere when you are so hungry you will eat your own hand, because you will proceed to order the entire menu. Hi waitress, I need............ a coke, a milkshake, a hamburger, plain fries and sweet potato fries, thank you. That is how my order went, I am not ashamed, I was hungry. This location is tiny so I suggest you go early I think we were there right around 11:50am or so, and a lot of people came in behind us. This is a very simple menu burgers, fries, shakes, some salads, and beers and cocktails. If you want something else better go somewhere else, go here for a burger. Teresa and I decided that we needed shakes, I went with good old plain vanilla, and Teresa got a cookies and creme.

Jesse and I decided on El Chilango burgers, it has guacamole (very very fresh and good), jalapenos (fresh) and cheddar. Teresa got the Turkey-Bacon-Guac, she is more of a turkey patty person. On a side note they have turkey, beef, veggie, and buffalo patties. We also got two baskets of fries, one sweet potato and one regular. First off the burger was totally awesome, and was made even better by the sweet potato fries. Everything is very fresh and that makes all of the difference in the world. The buns were soft and melted in your mouth and the guacamole should be on the menu in every Mexican restaurant because it was so good. Overall I will be going back here, a lot. It is really good and writing this is making me hungry, soooooooooooooooooooooo see ya soon...............

Sushi meets Hamburger

One of my favorite places to go is the Cherry Creek Mall. It is in a nice area, and the mall is just more quite, not so many kids and teenagers hanging out, more about people enjoy shopping like I do.

The one restaurant that I return to time and time again is Kona Grill this is a chain restaurant, but not like one I have ever been too. First of all they have sushi, and it is good. This time I kind of switched it up a bit. I started with the Chicken Chili.

It was good, but it is very filling. I ate half of it and was starting to get full but wanted to save room. My friend Mike came with me on this trip and he wanted to have a cheese burger.

It looked really good as he had grease dripping down his hands and was tearing at applewood smoked bacon, and was dripping with caramelized onions and aged cheddar. I tasted the fries they were good, but could have been crispier. I opted for my favorite salad of all time, and I mean I love this salad, I would eat it everyday, the Sushi Sampler salad.

The reason I love this salad is that I get sushi and I get a really fresh salad. You get one shrimp, one salmon, and one tuna sushi, and one California roll. I usually eat about 1/2 of the fish and all the salad. It is a great to save some sushi for lunch the next day. Overall Kona is a great place to go if you love sushi and the person with you does not. If I was just going to eat sushi with people I would go somewhere else, but hey if I can have chili and then sushi why not!!!!!!

So one thing that I really really really love is Greek food. I love kebobs, gyros, hummus, feta, olive oil.....................the list goes on and on. I was recently looking around where I live in Denver and saw some reviews of a kind of fast-food Mediterranean place, I thought at once that is where I need to go and I added it to my list on my iphone of a place I needed to eat. That place is called Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill and I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok when you go in the give you a falafel sample for free, and who doesn't love something for free? This place is kind of like Chipolte for Mediterranean food. They all sorts of goodies laid out, and you get to choose what you want. They offer a choice of getting; a pita sandwich, a plate, a laffa, or a salad. First the meat or protein, they have chicken shwarma, steak shwarma, and falafel...........simple and easy, I wish they had gyros but it is still good. I opted for a chicken shwarma pita.

You can pretty much stuff the world into this pita, and I did. I got vegetable salad, hummus, babaganoush, tabuleh, cabbage, and pickled eggplant. Ok let's stop for a minute, this pickled eggplant stuff is incredible you have to get it even if you don't like eggplant, because you will love it. Ok back to the pita, I topped mine with feta (.79 extra) and I got the Mediterranean garlic sauce which is amazing and you must get it. I also got a side of falafels to go with my sandwich. This sandwich is awesome!!!!!!! You will leave filling very, very full but it is the kind of full that makes you happy. As a side note I went to the one in the Highlands, but this is a chain and they have a few around town. You must try this place, it is great. I will eat here over Chipolte any day.

Ok first of all I love GYROS!!!!! But when I stopped at a place called Yianni's Gyros place, you think, ya this place is gonna rock. Sadly it did not rock, it was really greasy. It looked pretty.............

But not very good. The fries were bland they did not have salt. The gyros was cooked on a flat top that made it crispy in parts that were nice, but tasted like it cooked in its own fat, much better to find a place where they cut it off the spit not a oily. Also no feta or olive was present and I like my gyros with those. So Yianni you have not earned a place in my heart, I will not likely return to this place. If you want to go there, it is on Colfax in Lakewood.

First this is a chain restaurant in Colorado, second it is delicious, and I do not think I have ever eaten at one that I do not like. The Tres margaritas that Michelle and I lunched at yesterday is on 92nd ave and Sheridan in Arvada CO. They have a website but it is useless, it doesn't work, don't bother going to the website just go to the restaurant. Michelle and I have been eating here for a long time, it used to be farther south but they moved it a few years ago to it's new location. The food is really good. One thing that I say about Mexican food is; if the salsa is good the food will be good.

Theirs is great and really fresh tasting. If you are a regular, and you know, they also make this mushroom salsa that you can ask for it is like pico de gallo with mushrooms in a vinegar and oil dressing, at some locations they charge for it and at others it is free. Anyway we did not get any yesterday, just went with good old chips and salsa. Michelle and I both ordered Carne Asada, grilled steak with rice, beans, and guacamole.

You can not go wrong with this dish. I get corn and Michelle got flour tortillas, both are homemade and super fantastic. I have had so many items at Tres Margaritas, I have never had anything bad, I know it is weird. So grab a friend and head over, you will love it, I promise.

Sunday morning breakfast at a restaurant does not really appeal to me, but I know it appeals to you. The one thing that I hate about weekend breakfast spots, is I hate waiting, I just want some damn eggs and I want them now!!!!!! Ok a bit dramatic I know, so I think we got into this place just under the line. Hotcakes Diner is located here............................

Now this is far from my house but Teresa and I were going to a movie at the Esquire Theatre so it is closer to that. When arriving it was not too busy, it was crowded but we did not have to wait. The decor is like a cafe, typical breakfast place nothing out of the ordinary. Waitress brought water and coffee, the coffee was horrible and I was hoping that was not a sign of things to come. I usually do not order sweet things for breakfast but something on the menu caught my eye, sweet potato waffle, yes I needed to have that. My fellow restaurant goers, Teresa and Jesse had different things in mind, but I knew I had to have that waffle. Service and food was really fast and that is always important to a breakfast place. My waffle stole the show, just look how beautiful it was,

Yes a thing of beauty!!!!!! This was by far the best thing I have ever had for breakfast. I would say if you are gonna go here to eat, order this and you will not be sad. Now as far as the other foods. Teresa ordered eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and pancakes, she said it was good and she really liked the bacon. I do not eat bacon so I will take her word on that. My waffle came with eggs and sausage patty, eggs were done nicely and the sausage patty from from a box of patties, not homemade. Jesse had a country skillet thing, eggs, hashbrowns, chicken fried steak cover in gravy, looked like a mess and he didn't seem to enjoy it too much either.

Overall get the waffle, skip the coffee and skillet. Nice place to go when you want to breakfast on the weekend without a wait.

I popped back into ernie's last weekend and was still totally awesome. Check out the pictures. Word to the wise the service here is slow, but the food is worth the wait.

So on Wednesday I was just plain exhausted, really I couldn't even move, and God knows I wasn't about to cook. My roomie Mike suggested we order from Thai Basil (this is the one at 3301 W 38th Ave Denver) and he would go and pick it up ( they do deliver but he was being nice). I really love rice noodle bowls and this is what I get every single time, combo of meats. I think it is hard to mess up a rice noodle bowl, these are good, not the best but really good for not having to make dinner. I also ordered some crab and cheese wontons.

overall this is a nice place to get a take away, or have them deliver. I have never actually eaten at the restaurant itself so if anyone has please let me know. I see a lot that this place has cheap beers and a happy hour, I do not think you can go wrong with asian food and beer. They also have a super large menu that has some of everything. I think next time I might try a curry as I am a sucker for a good curry. So go ahead and get some next time you do not want to cook......................

Worst Mexican Food I'ver ever had in Colorado

If you are looking for over-salted meat, over-salted salsa and bad customer service, then by all means visit, El Tapatio,5390 Wadsworth Bypass. Arvada, CO 80002. My friend Mike and I went here last Wednesday night around 6pm. First off we were greeted and sat down immediately. We were brought chips and salsa. We both asked for a coke to drink. The drinks came fast. The menu here is really large, I think maybe too large. Mike and I dug into the chips and salsa and we were a bit disappointed. The salsa is really, really, salty and pretty spicy for most people's liking(I like spicy food, but I can see someone who does not rejecting this salsa). Second the chips were not fresh made, pretty much tasted liked they opened a bag and dumped them in the tray.

I ordered something that I thought was a great idea, and still do. I actually think I am going to make a version of it at home, but will not go back to El Tapatio for a repeat. I had the El Tapatio special which is fajita meat placed on top of a cheese quesadilla and served with rice, beans, and sour cream. I love the idea of this, or putting fajitas in a quesadilla would be good as well. The meat was salty and overcooked and the beans tasted like they came from a can (not homemade). It kind of reminded me of eating at Taco Bell but I think I might have enjoyed Taco Bell more, at least I could have eaten it in my car.

Mike got something called Enchiladas Rancheros, Enchiladas topped with an egg. He pretty much ate the whole thing but when I asked him if he liked it he said, "Not really." Typical boy eats the whole thing even though it doesn't taste good. He is from the school of not wasting food, I am from the school of if it tastes bad don't eat it.

As far as the service goes, it was bad. There are a lot of TV's around the restaurant and our waitress was pretty much into watching that instead of helping us. When she brought the food she never came back until I saw her and asked her for more coke, she got it for me since we were sitting right next to the wait station, but never asked Mike if he wanted anymore and his glass was almost empty. People that work in the serving industry should at least want to work a little for a tip, this girl seemed like she was here to just earn minimum wage and really didn't give a F*** about anything else. Mike left the tip and I think he left $5 which I felt was way too much. Overall, if you want to eat bad Mexican food, get bad service, and sit in an old Bennigans building, this is the place for you. If that does not sound appealing to you, I would skip this place.

Yak and Yeti

Ok First of all, you have to go to the location on Sheridan, it is the BEST!!!!!! Listen to me and you will be rewarded!!!!! I have been going here for years and years, if I had to guess I would say around 8 years. It recently changed owners about a year ago and the food has gotten better, and better. On Saturday my sister Teresa and her husband Jesse and Moi went there for lunch buffet. You are really better going for indian food for a buffet, then you get a little of everything. Yak and Yeti has a buffet for dinner and lunch, but you can also order off of the menu (not suggested). Teresa and I ordered iced Chai and Jesse ordered a Chai Milk Stout for drinks. Yak and Yeti brews their own beers and recently won an award for their Himalayan IPA at the Great American Brew Fest held in Denver Colorado. I personally am not too much of a beer drinker but Jesse seemed to enjoy it.

The chai is the reason to come here as far as I am concerned and I could drink it everyday if I could. Yak and Yeti offers a lot of different items but my favorite are chicken curry, saag paneer, and the naan of course. But yesterday they had something new that was really good, chicken in chili sauce. I hope they keep that one on the table because it was awesome, kind spicy but not too much. Teresa doesn't like spicy so she passed on that and usually goes for the sweet potato marsala. Overall you are not going to leave here hungry, actually the "food" baby in your stomach will be so large you will need to have a nap when you go home.

My friend Michelle and my sister really love the rice pudding as well, I hate rice pudding so I have to take their word for that. I have provided a few pictures below for your viewing pleasure. Please eat at Yak and Yeti I have loved it for years and I am sure you will too.

You can eat in or carry out. This used to be a former restaurant that I would go to from time to time called, three sons, but it closed about a year ago and was replaced by Ernie's. My friend Mike and I went there last Tuesday night. On Tuesday's it is family night and you can get dinner for 4 people for $30 (prices may change) but it seems like a good deal you get a salad to share and a large pizza or spaghetti and meatballs, a large pitcher of soda and flavored ice for dessert. Since it was just Mike and I we ordered off of the menu. Also important to note that the bar here has a really good selection of beers and drinks, they even make their own limoncello. We start with the house salad.

It was a really good salad served family style in a wooden bowl. Fresh baby salad greens, red onions, pitted kalamata olives, and tomatoes served with the house dressing which is olive oil based. I was really impressed by this salad since it seems like house salads can sometimes be cheap and over priced, but this one was not, around $4 a person but was really worth the price. For our main meal I had a meatball calzone.

The Calzone is filled with mozzarella, ricotta, and sliced meatballs. This was once of the best things I have eaten in a long time and writing about it is making me drool. Go get this now, or of course when they are open. Mike had a pepperoni pizza with sliced red onions, he wouldn't let me take a picture because he is a loser!!!!! But he ate the whole thing so I am sure it was good, and he said it was good, so I am going to trust him. Overall this place was really great. The service was slow but I'm not too sure if that was just because our waiter had almost half the restaurant to himself, but it didn't ruin my opinion, the food more then made up for it. The calzone was around $12 and Mike's pizza was around $11, might seem a little pricey but the ingredients are so fresh that you will not leave feeling like you didn't get your moneys worth. Overall I will be going back a lot, and it is close to my house in Denver so I am even more happy about that. The menu features; pizza, calzones, salads, pasta, and sandwiches, there is also gluten free pizza available. A very simple menu but very good quality. I would recommend that you go.

Ok first things first, I love food!!!!! I also like eating out and finding new restaurants. I find that I am constantly looking for new restaurants in Colorado, and it seems like it takes forever to find them.............really I am just sick of looking so much. I ask that anyone that comes across this blog will add where they are eating, and places that I must try. I am hoping that this leads me to some really great food, but I also hope that this leads you to some really great food as well. I might also occasionally post some recipes since I really do enjoy cooking as a hobby. Ok Let's get started........................
